I've found a few discussion points online that might help spark some discussion... - What did you think about the "life is better in prison" theme?
- Did you enjoy the book? Did you find it and it’s characters engaging, or did you get a little bored?
- Which character(s) was your favourite? Do you aspire to be like one of them when you’re ‘elderly’?
- How did you find the ending – was it too abrupt? It may be that she’s writing a sequel, if she did, would you read it?

So I think on hearing the plot of the book I got excited about it. Elderly people breaking out of a retirement home to commit robberies sounds like great fun.
Unfortunately though, either the book wasn't written well, or it just didn't translate well from Swedish to English. It was quite clearly translated and I did get fairly bored with it.
Despite it being a struggle to get through I think the book does raise interesting points. I personally do think that the elderly generation are always in danger of being forgotten. I also think most people forget that they will one day be those little old ladies and little old men. I would love to still be active enough to plot robbing banks with my friends when I'm older.
I do think prisons should hold certain standards but if criminals are getting treated better than our elderly there is probably something wrong there and I also wouldn't be surprised if this was the case.
Having not enjoyed this particular book I probably wouldn't read a sequel. However I would like to read more books where the protagonist is a member of the elderly community. It's nice to get a different point of view.
